Lifelong Chiloquin resident, Raymond Vance Baldwin, died on Dec. 31, 2022 at the age of 76.
Vance was born to Raymond and Marianne Baldwin on Jan. 17, 1946. He received his high school diploma and shortly after went to become a radioman in the United States Navy and served on the USS Mattaponi during the Vietnam war from 1963 to 1967. After being honorably discharged, Vance attended Linn-Benton Community College twice: once for mechanics and the other for cabinetry. His hobbies included woodworking, jewelry making and collecting antiques. He also loved rockhounding, hunting, fishing, camping and just being in the great outdoors.
Vance was a member of the Chiloquin Rodeo Association for many years and enjoyed volunteering at Collier State Park to display his antique saws.
Vance is survived by his brother, Lynn Baldwin; sons, Kristopher Baldwin, Justin Baldwin and his wife, Heather, Michael Hickman; daughter, Brandy Steffens; grandchildren, Kristopher Baldwin, Kara Baldwin, William Smith, Jacob Baldwin, Aurora and Nikolai Hickman; several great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews; longtime friends, Robin Danielson, Raymond DeBortoli and many others. Vance was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Cheryl Haskins and Susan Brekke; and granddaughter, Kathleen Baldwin.
A memorial service will be at 10:00am on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 35600 Chiloquin Rd. in Chiloquin. Private interment will be at the Fort Klamath Cemetery.
