Joseph “Joe” R. Marcon, Jr., “Pepsi Joe”, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Albany, Ore. on Jan. 19, 2023. He was 81.
Joe was born Aug. 10, 1941 in Klamath Falls to Joe, Sr. and Stella Marcon. He was a proud alumnus of KU, graduating in 1959. Joe joined the US Navy in 1959 and served on active duty until 1962, and then reserves until 1965. Following his service, Joe met and fell in love with Claudia “Punky” Ainsworth; the two were married December 12, 1964 in Klamath Falls. Joe worked for Pepsi Cola in Klamath Falls for many years. Once retired, he began a second career driving bus for Basin Transit Service. Joe also volunteered his time driving the Klamath County Museum trolly in downtown Klamath Falls. He enjoyed being part of 4H and serving at local fairs. He also loved building an extensive HO model train layout and watching movies. Most of all, though, Joe loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph “Joe” W. and Darlena Marcon of Albany, Ore., Kevin and Stacey Marcon of Klamath Falls; grandchildren, Kevin Marcon, Jr. and his wife, Kasey, Treza “Tara” Marcon, Anthony “Tony” Marcon, Sharaya Marcon, Melina Marcon, Eric Marcon and Aron Marcon; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia; his brother Hubert Bratton; parents Joe and Stella Marcon.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023 at Klamath Memorial Park Chapel, 2680 Memorial Drive in Klamath Falls. Private interment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
