Donald F. Rogers was born March 31, 1934, to Howard Fletcher and Evelyn Rogers in Merced, California. Don passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Don was 90 years old.
Don was the third of four children: sisters Betty Lee, Lynn, and Ruth. He grew up working in the family store in Le Grand, California. Following graduation from Le Grand High School, Don attended Fresno State University and then Cal Berkeley. While attending CAL he met Sara Myers, the love of his life. They married in April 1955. In October 1955 Don joined the United States Army. He spent the next two years active duty and five more years in the army active reserves.
Don loved the outdoors! He spent a great deal of time camping, rock climbing and leading backpack trips in the Sierras. He referred to himself as the Happy Wanderer. Don felt that he could be closer to God in the outdoors. When he was 42 years old Don accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior.
Don is survived by his three children, Sally (John) Ritter of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Tom Rogers of Horse Creek, California, and Donna (Jerry) Kartzinel of Clermont, Florida, his sister Ruth Daskaloff of Carmel, California, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sara, and sisters Betty Lee and Lynn.
Don's family would like to thank the staff at the Pacific Living Center and Bristol Hospice for their loving care and compassion in the final chapter of Don's life.
Services will be held on November 15, 2024 at 2:30pm at United Evangelical Free Church, 3333 Beverly Dr, Klamath Falls, Oregon. The graveside service will be for family only.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Evangelical Free Church or Bristol Hospice Foundation.
