CINDY KAYE THOMPSON (WALDEN)
In Loving Memory
1951-2022
Surrounded by family, Cindy Kaye Thompson (Walden), age 71, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Thursday, December 15, 2022, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Cindy was born on November 23, 1951 in Portland, Oregon to Theodore H. Walden and Janette E. Link. Cindy’s love and affection for her late husband Rodney and three sons Michael, Matthew, and Mark was unparalleled. She was an amazing woman and treated family, friends, students, and new acquaintances with overwhelming warmth and positivity. Cindy’s older sisters Theo and Jan were always very proud of her many accomplishments in life. The love between sisters was very strong, even though miles apart, they visited and comforted each other often.
Cindy married her beloved husband, Rodney, on September 21, 1974 at Holladay Park Church of God in Portland, and together they started a blessed life in the Red Bluff community. Educated at Warner Pacific College in Portland (B.S. 1975), her love for music translated into a forty-year teaching career focused in primary education as a music specialist at Lassen View, Richfield, Bend, and other Tehama County elementary schools since 1976. She retired from Lassen View in 2016. Cindy found talent in every student and had a unique way of connecting with and drawing out the best in people. She was a staple at the First Church of God since the mid 1970s sharing her God-given talent of playing the piano and singing every Sunday with a bright smile on her face.
If you were married in Red Bluff, there’s a good chance she sang and played the piano at your wedding, always making herself available for others. She imparted spiritual advice and encouragement to many young women through youth bible studies. In her more recent years, she cherished time with her grandkids, reading and singing to them at every opportunity. Cindy loved her visits with Rod to Klamath Falls to stay long weekends at Matthew and Cassie’s home; riding horses, relaxing on the porch, and enjoying home-cooked meals. Words cannot describe our loss, but we have peace knowing she is in Heaven singing with the angels, reunited with her husband and parents.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodney L. Thompson. Her memory will live on through her loving children Michael (Erin), Matthew (Cassie), and Mark (Jordan); beautiful grandchildren Avery, Owen, Quinn, and Sloan; and beloved siblings Theo and Jan (Jeff).
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life service at the First Church of God, 750 Luther Rd., Red Bluff, CA on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. directly followed by a fellowship reception at the same location. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery will be held with family.
