Mike Nixon peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the age of 71 after years of struggling with ALS.
Mike was born on March 7, 1951 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to Woody & Elaine Nixon. Mike grew up in Effie, Minnesota until he moved to Bly, Oregon at the age of 21. Mike lived in Bly and worked for Weyerhaeuser until 1981 when he married the love of his life, Joy (his bride as he always called her throughout the years), and made their home together in Keno, Oregon. Mike continued to work for Weyerhaeuser until the company closed their local plant then he went on to drive log truck for J.H. Brown Logging, Jacobs Logging and Jeld-Wen.
Mike loved woodworking and made many beautiful pieces of furniture for his friends and family. He was also very proud of his coy fish pond built in their back yard. Mike valued his membership in the Masonic Lodge #77.
Mike is survived by his wife, Joy, brother Bob Nixon of Big Fork, Minnesota, sister Cherie Ruhd (TR) of Brandt, South Dakota.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Association, 825 NE Multnomah St, Suite 940, Portland, OR 97232-2597 would be appreciated
